    1960 T Dash

I have been working on my 60 T for almost 3 yrs and finally there may be an end in site. I just installed my new dash pad and noticed a gap about 1/2" between the windshield and the dash trim. Is this normal or am I missing a part that covers this area.

    Hey Steffan,
There is a post on Squarebirds about this. I will try to find it. I remember the comment about removing all the old pad before installing new dash pad!

Hi Richard, I would appreciate any help I can get. There was no dashpad in the car when I got it. I just think it is odd that you can see through the windshield and see a gap as well as the screws that hold the trim on. I got the pad from Mac's but there was no way it would ever have covered that gap even without trimming, and there is no jute padding against that area of the firewall. The car had been sitting in a barn since 1987. The original owner had done a so called restoration on it but......... what a mess. Unfortunatley he died so his wife put the car up for sale so I never had the chance to talk to him. This project has turned into a full restoration, right down to stripping all the paint off due to someone painting lacquer over enamel, what a mess. Alot of the work I am doing I have gotten the info off this site as well as the internet so I am sort of shooting in the dark on some of it. Some parts I don't even know what they are for so I will have to try and post some pics.

Hi Richard, I have seen that posting before but it does not give a good close up of how the trim sits at the windshield. It might be normal to have a gap. I might look at fabricating a piece to fill it in. I was buying my parts from Mac's in New York state but I started to buy from the Birdsnest in Oregon, they seem to know a lot more plus they have a huge supply of used parts. I live in Ontario Canada so parts are very rare here, the only good thing is that the car originally came from Florida and wasn't brought up here until 1979.

Lets see if the pix I took of that curved section up against the windshield helps. My interior guy took off the metal strips, the defroster strip, and all those pieces to paint my dash. Hopefully, these pictures will be close up enough to let you see what mine looks like and be a help to you. That part of the dashpad closest to the windshield needs to be repainted again because it sucked up the yellow paint and is still showing some black through it. But Danny will be doing that in the next few days again. Those yellow things close to the windshield are the metal pieces that the screws go into to secure those metal pieces around the semi-circle of the windshield. When in place, as you can see, they cover that area and you see that the area where the dash ends is covered by those metal pieces.

Hi John, I will take some pictures this weekend but I don't believe I can post pictures to this site. I do have another person who said they would post them for me so I will send them off to him.
