Hi John - I can't speak to the summit racing carb you mentioned, but the PO of my 60 352 auto no air installed the Edelbrock 1406 (600cfm) and I've had zero issues with it in eight years. Lot's of folks on here would probably say the same I think. Good Luck!

If you buy one go for the 600cfm, it will work well with it and you'll never have to worry about "Maybe I should have got the bigger one"!

Get the 600cfm and the Edelbrock 1406. I am another of those who went for that and it has given me no problems since.

Yes, the only issue I have had with the 1406 carbs, they seem to dissipate the fuel in the bowls faster than the Holleys so I end up cranking them longer?

But that could also be a symptom here in Ca due to our terrible mandated fuel and the ethanol content we have?

This car has the tiniest piped dual exhaust I have ever seen... Maybe 1.5 or 2 inches and exits strait down at a 90* after the mufflers behind the rear bumper
Will a 600 be to much?
What cfm is the factory autolite?
I'm not going to change out the exhaust because it's still good.
And is a lot quieter than my 68 cougar 390 duals

Isn't the edelbrock more of a Chrysler / gm type carb?

The Autolite carb is 600 cfm. I also recommend the Edelbrock 1406.

John I totally agree on the Edelbrock 1406. I installed it on my 60 and runs pretty sweet

That dissipation is true for me too if she sits for a couple of days, and I use non-ethanol gas here in NY since it is still available.

Speaking of ethanol free gas, last summer I used https://www.pure-gas.org
to locate stations that supposedly sell ethanol free, and had some surprises along the way from Buffalo to Harrisburg PA. This this year I'm heading to Ft Wayne IN I'm going to get more info and phone ahead to check on availability and whether the business actually still exists! Ran into both of those situations last year. I don't mind going a little out of the way if necessary, but to do so only to find a vacant filling station is a royal pain.....

So, I Pulled the trigger on a summit 600 carburetor.
I'll let you now how well it fits up and runs on a 352 stock intake.

                      Yes. Do let us know.

My reasons are selfish, being that there is a spare stock intake manifold laying around that is for our '70 truck FE. The mounting base is kinda flat.

Back when we had the squarebird, the autolite 4100 was easy to rebuild so we did that.

                        Just started the install
probably not going to get it running until after I get back from finding the eclipse with the family next week.

But i took an hour off from cleaning the camper Sunday and got the 4100 off and the summit in place.

The carb fits good. Drops right in place.
                        What I ran into...

1 choke. I was able to change out the electric choke with a heat riser choke I had from an old Holley. Don't need to do it but I like that it looks kinda stock.

2 fuel line I put on the summit dual fuel inlet on, but I'm going to have to bend a new line with a 90*. Just after the dual fuel is the heater core hose on the front of the intake. There is just enough room to make the bend out to the center of the intake where I can follow the original line down.

3 linkage. The stock linkage goes in but the locking clip won't work on the summit. I'll probably just drill it and pin it if I can't find a clip that will work

                        4. Air cleaner bolt. I think I'm going to steal the center air cleaner bolt from the 4100. The summit is a two piece that I'm not to confident in.

In a week or so we'll see how she runs
                        John-

                          Hi John

The P.O. of my car used a 465 CFM carb as a replacement so they could keep the hot air tube choke feature. Long story short I am so under carbureted that it starves on the freeway.

You can detune a bigger carb, but the only thing you do when under carbed is replace it. Go big or go home!

I'm putting the 600 cfm on it. Probably a tad to big, but we will see how she runs and go from there.

The 4100 carburetor is 600 cfm so it's the same.
