Loose center caps on wire wheels

I took my center caps off my wire wheels today and saw they were held on with silicone and even some duct tape on one. I cleaned them off and tried to decide how to fix it. On my wheels there are 4 tabs holding the center cap on. I thought if the tabs were a little deeper it would help hold them on. I found a flat tip screw driver the size of the tab. I opened my vise just the size of the tab. I put the screw driver in the tab and set it on the open part of the vise and gave each tab a couple of taps with a hammer. Wow, now I use a rubber mallet to get them on and they are tight. It took me longer to clean off all the silicone than to actually fix it the right way. I hope this helps someone from using silicone to hold on the center caps.

If this was posted before I apologize for the repeat.
