    iT *is* Possible!

I own 3 ascMcLarens. 1 Based upon a Mercury Capri, and 2 based upon a Ford Mustang. The 2 1990(s) based upon Mustangs have 7,200 and 2,300 miles on them, and the 1986 Merc Capri Coupe has just 697 miles on it.
I've seen others, too. A 1966 G.T.O. in SOP (Special Order Paint) from factory, with 777 miles on it. It was actually bought TO store, and wears 2 window stickers from factory in order to list the 38 options on her. She goes to shows in enclosed trailer.

They are out there! Few and far between, but they do come out between May & September.

My '60 supposedly only has 56k on it... but it was poorly stored and needs mucho work. The gentleman I purchased it from bought it in the mid sixties, drove it sparingly until he parked it in the garage in '69. Based on what I've seen so far with the car, I would say he was being truthful unless the person HE bought it from rolled the odometer over prior to him purchasing it. No change under the seat newer than '69, a few newspaper clippings all pre '69 etc... so I wuold say the date in which it was parked is correct.

Like I said though, it's hard to tell based on the cars condition as it was poorly stored for those 40 years.

To me the engine block looks like an "Aqua" color instead of the correct BLUE.

I would think the trunk's burtex mat should be in near perfect condition on a 36K car (looks good in the pic). The winshield washer pump should also be with the car (seller stated the water pump was just changed), and the original underhood wiring straps (aluminum) should almost all be there IMO. 1958 hubcaps are hard to find, yet alone 4 GREAT ones, so I'd also look at those on a 36K car. The 1958 Birds had that rear trailing arm suspension system. The replacement bushings for this system have only recently been available & are very pricey too, so this would be another area to look at on an " original 36K" T-Bird...

I am willing to bet the motor has been outside of the car based on the color of the block. The question is why . . .

Original ball joints, at least the uppers, were riveted in. When replacements were needed, the originals were drilled out and the replacements bolted in.

Then again, my car at 150K+ still had the original, riveted ball joints in place, so that may not prove anything.

              Doug, that's excellent information!!

No, rivets would not prove anything but bolts would!!

              thanks!
