    $20 Tayman Electrics Coupon available

    hi everyone

I am in the process of converting the radio system in my '58 from stock to AM/FM with original appearance. The work was done by Gary Tayman Electrics in Florida. I will have a dual speaker in the console in place of the large original oval speaker.

    His web site is: http://www.taymanelectrical.com/

I got a $20 coupon with the radio so if you want it, let me know and I will snail mail it to you.

Dave Dare had two radios done by Gary with outstanding results - - see his posts. I hope to have mine up and running this week. Taking the console out to replace the speaker is the only real obstacle.

I also had Gary do my work and I am pleased. I bought the two speaker set up also.

I did have to do some modification to the mounting hole pattern to get it to fit in my '58 console.

I installed mine last weekend. the instructions were fine as well as accurate. I spent awhile in the shop completing the wiring harness which made things easier.

The holes for the speaker mounting required a tad of filing to align but the material is plastic so easy to work with.

Once installed, it works exactly as the instructions say it will. After 11 years of the original AM, it was really welcome! I live out in the country so FM can be a challenge but reception is as good or better than any other car radio I have.

The little jack on the rear allows me to hook up an IPod. You can sit in my car and listen to a 1958 baseball game or 1958 radio programs for a true retro experience . . .

      So . . . Gary . . . A+ ! Nice work!
