Can anyone else confirm an original factory installed power passanger seat in a 1958-60 T-Bird??

I've seen this topic brought up before years ago, either on this site or in the VTCI Scoop. It ended with this being a modification by an owner after production....

    Curious now,

Check out this '60 convertible. Although we'll never know if it's original it does have one. The fact that it's fully optioned leads me to believe that it's original.

Jon, check out my post below. Automotive Mile Posts says that the 4 way Passenger Power Seat was an option for the 1960 Tbird.

She does have a lot of options, no dual outside or spotlight mirrors??

Looks odd with the entire undercarraige painted red, and why order a convertible with ful black leather interior??
I bet those seats would burn many a "bun" with the top down on a nice sunny day!! LOL!!!

I can testify to that. I had a '60 convertible with black leather. Never again!!

I also was surprised to see factory air in a convertible. I would think that would be pretty rare.
As for my dual power seats, I will never know if they were factory or not, but I do think it was added in later or by the dealer. Reason: The seat switch installs in the outer side seat cover and the cover on the drivers side has a hole with a flat spot to make sure the switch is oriented properly. The passenger seat cover has a hole that is totally round, like it was drilled. Maybe John would know if Ford actually made a right side cover plate for the passenger seat, but I am thinking that this was a custom install.

Here's the picture of the dual power seat setup from the MPC. Oddly enough the passenger skirt doesn't show a hole for the switch.

According to the MPC the side skirts were not pre-drilled for power seats. There is a note to drill a 13/16 hole when power seats are ordered. My '59 also has the notch on the driver skirt so that the switch does not rotate. I would think a factory made hole on the passenger side would also have a notch. With as many squarebirds as I've owned I've never had one with a power passenger seat although I have installed a couple myself.
