The 3310S Holley 4BBL carb I suggested is a 750CFM. This carburetor will give you the same gas milelage as a 600 CFM if you drive it easy yet you will have the power if needed with this 750CFM. Rob34 has the original 4BBL carburetor that came off of his 64 T-Bird and it looks to be in good condition. Maybe you can give his carburetor a try because it is identical to my 59s carburetor......Let me know if interested........Det45

Carb Question
Thanks for the information! Keith which carb do you have on your '59? Is it an Autolite 4100? A Carter? I Rob's carb a C4AF-DG, A C4AF-R or a C4SF-B?
Austin, thanks for the list of things to look for. The Holley on my Bird is an after market carb. According to the previous owner, he put it on. My Bird has a Petronix Igniter II on it, so no points. I think the fuel filter is new, but not sure. The rotor and the cap are new. Timing is supposed to be set right. I am going to check the coil voltage and start pulling spark plugs. I want to eliminate as many things as I can before I invest in a new or rebuilt carb.
Speaking of carbs, if I were to get an Autolite 4100, which seems to be the best and most reliable of the carbs, according to Alexander, and others, which model of that would I get? I looked at a website listing Autolite 4100's, and they showed many different versions of them.
Unfortunately, their listing did not go back into the 58-60 Tbirds. I think I need at least a 1.12 venturi for 600CFM. As for originality, I am not trying to keep it original. I see the 1.19 for the '58 is almost impossible to find and it is probably more than I need anyway.
Thank you all for the information and help in tracking down my rough idle problem in drive. Sooner or later, I will find the problem, I hope. It just might be the carb. That might be the easiest way to fix the problem, but I am trying to keep from buying one that might not even fix this problem.

I'm not sure exactly what carburetor I have on my 59 but I know it is the original carburetor. If you want I can take my carburetor off of my 59 and temporarly install it on you car and see if that improves your idle. This is very easy to do and it would only take an hour or so to accomplish. All I have to do is to temporaly remove your carburetor, set it aside, install my carburetor and see if it corrects the problem. If it does then you will know it's the carburetor. After that I'll re-install your carburetor and then you can aquire a new carburetor to permanantly fix the problem. Switching carburetors is easy........Det45Comment

4100 carb
A 60 352 uses a coae-j or coae-k which is a long accelerator pump 4100. There is a used 4100 c2af-aj on ebay now for 56 bucks that is essentially the same carb per the specs I have been able to find. But may be jetted a little different. A kit is cheap and they are easy to rebuild or have it done locally. The blue numbers refer to the choke coil, kit number and float which you can see are identical to the COAE carbs.
I bought a rebuilt off of ebay that had been recolored and paid around $250.00.

Carb Question
Hi Keith,
If it is the original carb, it probably is an Autolite 4100. Since you know that your carb/engine is not having a rough idle problem while in a driving gear like mine is, that would be great! At least we should be able to see if the problem goes away when the present carb is off the car. If it does, well, that saves me a lot of checking of the other 17 things still on that list that Austin gave me to check! If it does not go away, at least I will know that my carb should be okay.
I very much appreciate you doing this for me. We will have to get replacement gaskets for my carb, and yours, I guess, when they go back on the cars. I dont know what model my Holley is. Please let me know when we can get together. Thank you very much for the offer.
NCBird, thanks for that information on '58-60 Autolite 4100's. If I understand that information on the webpage you sent, the '59 can use the '60 Autolite 4100 that is listed.
