Here's a diagram that I've drawn for my 59 Convt. The relay location on the 58 is most likely behind the glove box liner. Once the liner is removed, the relay is mounted to the right side, beneath the windshield wrap-around.

There are printed diagrams in the Osborn books that have been reproduced, and also there is a booklet dedicated to the 58 convertible from Ford back in 1958 called 1958 Ford Mechanic Service Forum, I believe the convertible was No. 8.

I found the wire colors on my 59 do not match what was printed for the 58, so my diagram has the colors found on my car. If the relay failed, you can add a jumper to the connector and try the release button under the dash.

    Hope this helps.

      Thanks GTE427
That helped a lot and I'm in good shape to there.

My problem is the wiring going in the lid and rear body panel or tail lamp panel to deck lid.

It seems like I have one wire inclosed in the deck lid that goes from left to right solenoids and it is just a loop wire with eyelits on each end.

I do have three wires coming out of the rear body panel that I think go to the rear deck lid. But I don't know how they go from rear panel to deck lid.

      Here's a few pictures.

Maybe holes for wires to enter deck lid ?

Solenoid wire left looping to right side? Positive or ground ?

      Wiring from switch in dash?

Thanks once again for any and all help guys.
      Charley

Found it----I must be getting old or some thing.
It was in the hole inside the lid all the time.

Well I'm sure we will all have more fun with this project in the future.

Found wire ends in the small hole bottom of decklid drivers side. Only looked 200 times.

I looked on e-bay and did not see the manual from your post. Did you happen to get a lot #?

Would be interested in it if it is still available and no one else here is bidding on it......................

See attached scan for the 1958 Ford Service Forum No 8. I also updated the original sketch I posted a few days ago and have attached it also.

Thanks everyone, I did buy the manual.
I 'll try to post some more pictures of the bird soon.
It just seems to take for ever to build one of these Big Birds.
