Need some help from the group. Is there an original Landau replacement top out there on the market? What was the original texture? Did the original have a padding under it? How hard is it to do it yourself? Are there videos out there to help with the installation? Thanks ahead of time for anyone with info.

Not an install that I would tackle, and I just did a headliner. Check with a local upholstery shop.
One problem with any vinyl top, especially the padded ones, they tend to trap moisture and really rust up the roof, usually at the front and rear edges, then the sides where the metal is the most curved. -
I don't believe the original material is available. In '66 they did have padding. I would call a few of the Thunderbird vendors and find out what they have and how close it is to the original. I also agree that I would leave the installation to a professional.

Clint, I can't answer the question regarding how thick that OEM vinyl top material is, but I would suggest you call the Bird Nest. Don or one of the guys there probably knows that answer. They can also tell you a lot about these vinyl tops which they do stock.
