Is There A Wrecked Retro-Bird Out There?

Scott ~ ss396t6 has a friend in Houston who has a neighbor who needs help. Here is what Scott sent me from his friend.

"Scottie", my neighbor has a 2004 T-Bird that she loves. Her wiper cowl molding has become misshapen due to age and (presumably) light exposure. It is a one-piece part which includes the rubber piece which constitutes the seal at the bottom of the windshield. This piece is now flapping against her windshield and causing an annoying noise when she drives over 75 MPH, which she does on her commutes to visit her mom in Orange.

I have attempted to repair this for her, but there simply isn't enough overlap anymore to glue the rubber to the windshield. The plastic has contracted. Ford no longer makes the part and nobody is making an aftermarket version yet.

This is just a wild plea, but if you hear of anyone who says, "Oh, yeah, I owned one of the retro-birds but it got totaled from the rear," please put me in touch with them. I know it's unlikely, but I can hope."

If anyone knows of a 2002-2005 Retro-Bird that has been in a wreck from the rear with the front intact, or that particular part intact, please post the contact information here and I will see that Scott gets it and passes it on to his friend in Houston.

**Edit - after a closer look it appears this is the upper one and maybe he's describing the lower one?***

Not the part he needs but here's a wrecked one in CA.
Bet if he contacted them they would pull the part.

    He might be surprised.
Got to a Ford dealer and ask for the part.
It's probably sitting on a shelf somewhere and they usually will ship it to the store for a few bucks or give you the phone number of the store that has is so you can arrange to have it shipped to your house.

The aftermarket shop I use (Certifit) no longer lists the Thunderbird in their catalog -

Thanks, Eric! I think they have already contacted their local Ford dealership with no luck. I have been able to get what appears to be some good information from one of our Austin Tbird club members who does a lot of repairs on Tbirds. He gave me some links to a company who has NOS OEM parts for Retrobirds and he has those parts listed on his website. The problem is I have not been able to get him on the phone because he is out of the office, but I left him a message. Thanks for the link to the wrecked Bird. I sent all the information I have gathered this morning to Scott for him to pass on to "Scottie" in Houston. Hopefully, she will be able to find the parts needed to fix this problem.

It appears that the part needed to repair that 2004 Retrobird was found at Capital Parts Group in North Carolina. I am told that the part has already been ordered. I will be adding them to our Advertisements Forum as a source for Retrobird parts. Thanks for the help and information!
