need help with C.R.A.P. bracket info...

i want to do an alternator conversion on my 1960 352 but cant figure out what C.R.A.P bracket i need... i have read that if the block has an extra hole that i need a certain one and that if it doesn't then its a different one ...im looking to install a 3 wire, 100+ amp ford alt.. what would be a good donor?..I have read like a 94 mustang or tbird...........by the way all that oil is tranny fluid from when i took the car out for a spin and the tranny hose to the radiator slipped out and made a mess....good thing i was parked when it happened and also a good reminder that when you buy a car from someone to make sure everything is bolted and tightened up right...especially if the car had been taken apart...

Your 352 does not have the hole for the alternator so you need item #92264.

I would contact C.R.A.P and ask what alternators will fit their brackets. I know a 1G, 2G and some 3G's should fit. Remember if you get a later model alternator you will have to change out the pulley.

I purchased the Crap bracket and used a alternator out of a 1996 Ford thunderbird. The alternator is a 3G and can support 130amps. Alternator was $90.00 off of ebay and the CRAP bracket was 160 I believe.

Great fitment and the alternator work PERFECTLY.

Does yours hold under a full load? I am running a 130amp alternator with a CRAP bracket. Mine currently has one belt, and I cannot get it to stop slipping under load.

So, I have picked up a dual pulley for the alternator and a triple for the balancer so I can run two belts to the alternator, I just have't gotten around to swapping it all in.

That's a good question, I don't remember if I got a pulley for that as well. It's been probably four years since I started down this road, then I got distracted with a new wife, new baby, new hotrod, new house.... I guess I'm finally getting back on track with the poor old bird.

You probably need one from an A/C car. I believe that had dual belts for the generator.

Eric, I would show pictures of my 3G 130-amp but it's on my Y-Block. That wouldn't do much good for you guys with FE engines.

The Woodward Dream Cruise is an all day (actually all week) affair in bumper to bumper, stop and go traffic. That 130 pushes the electric fan, on and off, all day long with no overheating and the battery is always full.

I also use an oversized pulley from an old Chevy generator (yes, generator). It is slightly larger than the original Ford generator pulley but just big enough to keep my belt from slipping. - Dave
