Hi. Various brands have the transmission fluid “Ford Type F” (Ford M2C 33F). Is that the right ATF for the Cruise-O-Matic transmission?

Yes, Type F (F stands for Ford)is correct for the Cruis-0-Matic. The more commmon and modern Dextron II and III fluids also will work.

A mechanic friend of mine tells me that any transmission fluid will work in the cruise-0-matic. I have Type F in my 1959 and I have Dextron II in my 1960. No problems so far. The later Ford C6 transmiisons need type F exclusively.
