    generator / alternator question

My 63 engine which I am installing in the 62 has an alternator, however the 62 came with a generator. Is there anything I need to do with regards to the charging system or wiring in the 62?

You need to change the wiring harness to work with an alternator voltage regulator rather than the generator voltage regulator which is different. The alternator voltage regulator has a plug in connector. You can mount the new voltage regulator in the same location as the old one. Most Fords from the mid-60's through the 70's use the same voltage regulator and alternator so you can probably find a harness in the junkyard that will work. There are quite a few wiring diagrams on the internet that show how to change the wiring from a Ford generator to a Ford alternator.
