As a bit of a gear head, i like to understand the workings of the Cruise-o-Matic.
Most part i do understand, but not the part of the one way clutch.
I know it is used in first gear in the D1 postion, but it does in fact exactly the same thing as the rear band does, it holds the pinion carrier against rotation. So why adding the one way clutch, if it can be done by the rear band as well (as is done in first gear in L position)?
