    1960 factory air

My 1960 hardtop had factory air. When I bought the car in 2003, everthing from the firewall forward to the front of the car had been removed. From the firewall back into the car is still in place: fan, controls, dash vent, etc. I would like to put the a/c back as it originally came from the factory. Anybody ever rebuilt their factory a/c? Did it work ok (cold enough, etc)? who has parts. etc? Thanks.

I have rebuilt my factory A/C on my 1959. On my 1960 Golde Top, believe it or not, it still works with only needing a recharge.

Parts are not that easy to find. Some of the Thunderbird dealers may sell you parts, though many just want to sell complete systems. Classic Air in Florida sells parts for old Ford air conditioners as well as modern replacements.

Were you able to find all the necessary original parts for your 59? I have been in contact with Classic also.
