Default 430 to FE swap

my 59 has a 430 suffering from a rod knock. I dont want this car sitting around while i save for the 430 rebuild. I have a fresh 390 motor available to swap in place of the 430. Im not so worried about the plumbing and electrical. My concern is the engine mounts and what i may need to make the 390 mount up correctly to the frame. etc.

any and all advice and direction is greatly appreciated

Jay

Jay, it is my understanding that 430MEL engine mounts are different than those for a 352 or 390 FE engine. John ~ jopizz should be able to comment on this in the morning when he is back on the Forum.

Here's the link to the Technical Resource Library showing the 430 motor mount bracket. The bracket is welded to the frame and bolted to the existing FE motor mount bracket. You will have to remove these to install the 390.

If you decide to put the 430 back in later, I the 59 block should be setup to use the fe mounts also.

Default RE : derbird 430 using FE mounts

i had not thought about that. what kind of set up is required to put the 430 on the FE mounts? Is there a disadvantage in doing so ?

also, will the 430 exhaust manifolds fit the FE heads ?
