A follow up on the thread for 1 1/8" vs 1" master cylinder bore. I was told some time ago that the manual brake cars were 1" and power brake cars were 1 1/8". I've read articles that explain braking in volume of fluid displaced, otherwise bore and stroke. It stated that manual brake car allow more levelage to the driver with a smaller bore and longer stroke than power brake cars which tend to have a shorter pedal travel, ie short stroke bigger bore.
Attached is an image from the 1959 Ford Service Specification Form 7202-59, this clearly shows the different Master Cylinder bore diameters depending on power or conventional brakes.
