    57 getting painted

I just bought a 57 from an older gentleman that had it repainted
35 years ago.It is Dusk Rose, but according to the vin the original color was Q Thunderbird Bronze.I have not been able to find one spot that would indicate a color change.
But here is my question, does changing the color effect the value of the car? I really like the Dusk Rose and would like to have it repaint that color.
    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    57 getting painted

Hi Frank, for someone who is buying a Tbird as an original car, it might make a difference. If someone is not an originalist, it will probably not make any difference, IMHO. As I recall, Dusk Rose is considered to be somewhat of a rare color though. That could have an effect on price. I would say that if you like the color that it is already, keep it and get a good paint job on it. As Alexander, the founder of our Forum used to say... "You paid the money for it, so you get to do with it what you want to." Here is a link to your 1957 that you might find interesting.

My feeling is if it's painted an original '57 color it's probably not going to affect the value that much. Since you have to live with it then keep it the color you like. If someone down the road wants to change it back then so be it.

Also agree with the others. Have it painted in the color of your choice. The quality of workmanship has a greater impact on the value than the choice of color.
