    Trailer hitch for 1958-1960 Thunderbirds

I have taken off the trialer hitch off my Golde-Top so I can get it rechromed. This is rare accesory that I have not seen on any other Squarebird in all the years I have been an enthusiast.

I have posted an article with pictures of the Draw-Tite trailer hitch at http://www.squarebirds.org/trailer_hitch.htm .

Very cool. How much do you think you can tow with that?

It is a class I trailer hitch which can pull a maximum of 2000 pounds.

I will look in the 1960 owner's manual if there is mention of towing capacity.

The trailer ball has some light surface rust, but no appreciable wear. I think the original owner found out that a black T-Bird with air-conditioning and an undersized cooling system was not the ideal towing vehicle. I bet he overheated the first summer that he tried to pull a trailer and found himself stuck in traffic.

This is probably why trailer hitches on Squarebirds are rarely seen.
