Suggestion for New Forum-Opinions Needed

Great idea !!!

We have had a few good head scratchers lately.

One tech area might be convertible top mechanisms. There's a scary one.
Knock on wood, mine works good. But . . . anyone who owns a convertible knows. Problem is, all the "old guys" that worked on these things "back in the day" are either dead now, or in their 80's and can't remember what a TBird looks like. There's only a handful of people who know the top systems in n out.

I've got a funny story about those tops I'll post elsewhere.

New Technical Resources Library Is Up & Running!!!

The new Technical Resources Library is up and running, thanks to JohnG! I have joined him as a co-moderator and am busy entering links to various subjects listed in the library. If you have links you would like to list under certain subjects, or new subjects you think should be added to the list, please PM or email JohnG or I and we will put them in as soon as possible.

Both JohnG and I have been trying to figure out how to get this editor to indent properly and keep the indentations. It always wants to post left justified. However, I found that by using the Advanced editor I was able to get things to indent where I think it looks better. Please let us know what you think. We are kind of limited in how we can make this work. I am sure it could be a lot fancier, but our main concern is to get it up and running.

If you have comments to make, please do NOT make them on the Technical Resource Library forum. We want to keep that as a "read only" forum, and not get it cluttered up with other posts. That will save John and I from having to clean up the forum of posts all the time. So send your additions, changes, reports of dead links, to JohnG or I in a PM or email. My email address is on the forum.

John Byers, I added the Convertible Top subject you wanted. DGS, if you will send me the links I will put those in also.

I hope that you will get a lot of use out of this. We can really add a lot more to it with your input. Every link has been checked by me and was working when I installed it. Enjoy!

hi everyone!

Ray and I have come up with about 77 or so references (links, books, magazines) we felt were appropriate. That gets us a start but just scratches the surface.

Please take a look, see what you think and see if anywhere it is empty (a topic but no references) you have something to add. Either post a reply or send ray or I an email.

For example, we have little on cooling systems - either fundamental information, sources of parts (Dearborn for the repro shrouds), test data or whatever. If someone, for example, wanted the best possible radiator core for optimal cooling, where would he look?

Others: instrument repairs (Alexander has info), people who do them, basics on how they work, how to upgrade...

Transmission repairs...

Golde top info...

Interior Info... how to replace the dashpad, headliner.

Disk brake upgrade - need all parts, details, so its self contained

Basically what have you found in your own experiences that one of us might need to know about at some point??

As the list grows, it might be good to split it into vendor resources, owner tips, related web sites and maybe others.

As it grows, it may make sense to evolve it into a wiki where anyone can easily add to it or correct misinformation and embellished on incomplete entries.

Just noticed your Celtic banner!
Congrats from an Okie who formerly lived in New England for a few years.
I became a fan when I lived up there.
If/when OKC gets the Sonics, I'll have to split my allegience - ha!

My daughter was born in Providence - so she's a true Northerner - she has a real claim in celebrating the championship - not a band-wagoner

During the playoffs, I've been wearing my Celtic ballcap I bought in Boston back in 1988. Must have been good luck - huh!

Hey Casey! A Celtic fan is a Celtic fan...geography has nothing to do with it, only a lifelong appreciation of teamwork and tradition.

Back in the early days of the NBA, Bob Cousy graduated from Holy Cross as the outstanding college player in the US. He viewed the prospect of a pro career with such suspicion that he initially bought a gas station in Worcester, gave driving lessons, pumped gas and did oil changes. Fortunately for us Celtic fans, he changed his career plans....
