Apparently I was not clear enough for some people and there are others here who do not understand how Ford numbering works as they did not have the benefit that Kultulz and I have had by working for Ford. I have already let Kultulz know what parts were used but it was pointed out to me to me that aparently I was too vague when I answered about the lifters and others may want to know as well. The B8S 6500-A lifter was designed and used for the 1958 hydraulic lifter engines in Fords and small Edsels (Ranger and Pacer). These are the engines known as FE. The big Edsel's (Corsair and Citation), Lincoln's and Mercury's also had hydraulic lifters in the 383, 410 and 430 but they used a PB8M 6500-A lifter. At some point in 58 the B8S replaced the PB8M and then both of these lifters were replaced by the B9AE 6500-A and in 1960 that lifter was superceded by the C0AE-6500-A which we would recognize as a modern hydraulic lifter. There is the desired answer. Thank you Hawkrod.
Now one only needs the superceding repair info and TSB's of the era.Comment

I have a 1958 FORD Shop Manual and it does not go into detail regarding the lifter style, other than hydraulic.
Now my 1958 MERC manual goes into detail (service disassembly) and shows the lifter as the type we are more familiar with.Comment
