    transmission leak

hello, i have a 1959 thunderbird with a 352 v8, after the car is running for a couple of minutes it starts leaking transmission fluid pretty bad, i cant drive it far usually to the end of my driveway then i have to put transmission fluid in it. Does anyone know what could be causing this?

    thanks

    RE: transmission leak

Welcome to the site. Possiblilities of the leak is from the front or rear seal, tranmission pan, or the connection to the dipstick tube. You should be able to locate it if you look under the car.

You may also want to check the rubber hoses that run from the tranny to the radiator. If they are old and craked.........you need to replace them.

I recently had a great shop look my new purchase 1960 and the transmission gasket leaked be aware...to replace the gasket they had to almost pull the engine to get to the transmission gasket..unbolt the trans mounts.. they said they found metal shavings which could not be a good sign..$500 to replace a gasket.. sounds like bad engineering to me.
