looking for a C6 transmission expert:

Trans will occasionally shift hard, or not at all. Then it'll act normal for a while. It seems to act worse when I'm driving the car hard from a stop, or under full throttle.

Now last night, it started to act like it was slipping when I would punch it. The car would rev up like it was in neutral, I would let off the gas a bit, and then "clunk", it would seem to go back into gear.

Vacuum modulator is a fairly new "black stripe" unit, and it does not have tranny fluid dripping out of the end (which would mean it is broken). Adjustment screw is backed off counterclockwise pretty much as far back as it will go.

I dont fully understand how these automatics operate.

I guess it's time for my wallet to be fleeced again.

What year/model C6, mileage/age and service history? Condition of fluid. Does it smell burnt?

Well.....it was very clean, and bolted onto the newly-rebuilt 460 when I got the car three yrs. ago. I dont know the year of the transmission, or if it was rebuilt, or how many miles it may have on it.

      The fluid looks good; red-colored.

Darn thing has been acting up ever since I had my car on the dyno a month ago.

Some of your symptoms sound just like what happens when your fluid level gets low.

(And torturing a trans with burnouts can lead to it biting back)

I installed a Hurst line-lock to take some of the strain off of the transmission and drivetrain whilst I am busy smokin' 'em.

I'll check the fluid level again.

                  got it.

the wife's computer was able to grab it.

I dont know what the deal was with mine. Could be something related to the fact that it is a circa-2002 Dell.

I use Google Chrome by default and it wouldn't pull it up.

Had to use IE. (Currently running IE 8)

Also using XP SP3 on this machine.

                      Worked with Chrome on mine.

Got a link like that for our Cruise-O-Matics? Looks like a good reference.

I was having some carburetor issues too.

I think I have the carb issues resolved, and now the trans. is shifting properly again.

Now I can understand why some guys prefer thier manual transmissions.....

The transmission modulator valve has to receive the correct vacuum signal to operate the trans correctly (or be modified).
