"Lucile" Gets Best Original Car in Show!

I just received this from Greg Prince regarding the results of judging of "Lucille", the last 1960 Squarebird off the line before shutdown for the 1961 Bulletbirds! Please send me a pic of that Diamond award! Congratulations, Greg! Sorry, I misspelled her name!

"Ray,
Lucille just got back from her first concours show. Very strict 100 point judging, with no unrestored class so I was competing against perfect cars. Well, She took third in her class as an unrestored car! and then SHE TOOK BEST ORIGINAL CAR OF THE SHOW!!! The trophy was a big diamond made out of cut crystal glass with beautiful etching!! (need to take a picture of it) That award is not always given out and was judged by the head judges, one being a head judge at Pebble Beach. So what a weekend. Please post the pictures of Lucille all done with factory correct BF Goodrich bias ply tires from the original molds, special order from Coker. A big year for Lucille turning the big 50!!!

Ray thanks for the thread and the pixs. Greg an outstanding achievement not only for yourself but for the squarebirds themselves. To be under the concours " microscope" speaks large to the current condition of your classic, the pride with which you show her and the dedication to keep original. Good stuff.

Looking at these great pictures, and remembering the pics of the Gold Bird, itīs obious that these cars shows maximum form with light metallic paints.

Greg, good job and congrats. I didnt hear anything about the Forest grove show this year. I have been to a couple other shows this year and havent seen a single squarebird. If I would have known you were going to be there I would have made it a point to go. Forest Grove is an hours drive from me, would have been great to see the last bird in person.

Thank you everyone for the kind comments. I will have the car at the VTCI show next year at Portland Oregon. I will be having the car specially judged for the authenticity award and the orginality award, so you will have a second chance to see her in person. HOPE YOU CAN MAKE MAKE IT AND BRING THAT SPECIAL SQUAREBIRD OF YOURS FOR ALL TO ENJOY!!!!
