    60 Factory A/C

I recently turned on the A/C for the first time in who's knows when. I noticed either a spark or a glow from a wire thru the round a/c vent. I turned the switch off and turned it back on again. Again it appeared. I did not wait for any odor, i.e. wire burning before I turned it off. Any thoughts on what might be going on? Thanks.

A round A/C vent does not sound like a factory set-up.

In any case there should be no wires, glowing or otherwise in the A/C vents.

The factory A/C unit looks like this:

    Is this what you have?

No. The set up is the same only it has two round vents in lieu of the square ones. It appears that it is not a factory original but a after market according to your photograph. The original label is on the unit uner the hood....Frigking on Harry Hines Street in Dallas, Texas. Of course the business is no longer there. Appreciate your expertise. Thanks.

If you have any pictures of your A/C setup, it would be appreciate if could show them for reference. You can post them or e-mail them to me.

Did you find the source of the glowing wires?

Can do....give me a few days for the photo's. Don't know how to post them, however, I can e-mail I think. I'll try in anycase. Have not turned the A/C back on. A little apprehensive. I don't want to cause burning of wires that may result in more than i bargined for.

If you want to post the pics for all of us to see, you'll have to upload them to a website or some webspace. Then you can post them in a message here ... Just type the URL starting with http://

It's really easy (if you have somewhere to upload them to). If you'd like some upload space, let me know -- I can upload them to a number of places for you and give you the URL to post.
