    Horns Location??

    59 Convertible with AC

I can't seem to see where the horns are. Since the PO took off a lot of things and chucked them its possible they aren't here. Where should they be and how do they get accessed?

    Thanks.....

They should be behind the front bumper at either corner.

Curious as to why these are located different from 1960 location? That's where both are located on the driver's side front engine bay. Or is it a convertible thing?

They probably moved them to the engine compartment in 1960 due to moisture issues having them behind the grill. That's my guess.

I had an older restorer tell me one time they moved the horns into the engine well similar to what John mentioned.

Interesting - never realized the horns were mounted in a different position on the earlier cars.

Martin has the official word (cool - thanks Martin) but I think they actually moved them so that they would have some place to hang the power steering pump when changing the engine

Although now I'm going to have to re-consider the mounting location of the Tbird horns I installed on my little old truck -

(one in the front of each fender well)

                  Heh heh

The engine compartment horns location is superior. Keep in mind if you have A/C and need to R&R the power steering pump, you'll need to remove the horns to get the pump to clear the bay.
