Looking For Squarebird 352 Air Cleaner

Art ~ ARTBIRD, up Canada way has a '59 352 Squarebird with an aftermarket air cleaner. He is looking for the OEM version for the Squarebird 352 engine. There is a difference between the 352 and the 430MEL/426 versions. He needs the one that looks like the orange one with the wide flattened area for the 352. The black one has a much shorter flat area and fits the 430/426 engine. Does anyone with a Squarebird parts car have the air cleaner that looks like the orange one? That orange one is missing the screw down top to it. Do you have just that part? If you have a complete unit, or just the screw down top please contact me, or Art ~ ARTBIRD by sending him a Private Message and copy me. Here are some pix of what he needs.

    Here's one.

Thought I had one here that was saved for the F-250 but it's the 61 + with the narrow rectangular snorkle.

The one on eBay needs work and then some but it did not look jammed up and it's the 1958-60.

    Good Luck
    Austin

That looks like a nice one. Even the tabs for the 4100 carb on the bottom of the housing are still in place. Looks very similar in condition to the one I bought. I media blasted and painted mine - turned out fine.

Don't remember what I paid for mine but $125 seems a bit high - I'd be more inclined to buy if they shipped it for free....

The one I bought and restored is the 430 version on the right.

        Hello,
I think I have one, maybe two? How far up in Canada is Art? I am about 25-30 minutes from the Blue Water Bridge and about 45-50 minutes from the Ambassador Bridge. If he is close, it might be less expensive to drive than to ship. In the meantime I will check out what I have.

Looking For A 352 Air Cleaner

Thanks for the information, Sherman! Here is the distance between you and Art.

Art Griscti ~ ARTBIRD is in Brampton, Ontario.

Sherman ~ Sherman is in China, Michigan

          A distance of 2 h 59 min (306.4 km) via ON-401 W and ON-402 W

Perhaps you could split the difference and meet in London, or Kitchener, or in between.... However, you would have to take the weather into consideration.. First, let's find out what you have available, Sherman and what you would ask for one. If you do, you and Art can work out the details. Please post pictures, of the top and bottom if you have one, or send the pix to me and I can post them for you...

            Hello,
The black one has been media blasted and primed. It has some surface rust and has some imperfections on the cover and on the inside ring that attaches to the carb.
The white one has not been media blasted. It has some surface rust, but has fewer imperfections. It has an extra hole in the side of it, probably for a PCV valve, so it is not an original to the 59-60 Thunderbird.
I tried to attach the pictures, but could not do it so here is simple Criagslist posting. I can provide more photos if you would like.

Hi Sherman, Thanks for posting them. It is bad the white one has that extra hole in the side, as it looks like it would work. The black one will take a bit of work to fix the imperfections. I will inform Art regarding this post and see what he has to say.
