Seat Belts - photo help needed

    1959 convertible

I have looked at the Tech Library instruction sheets for seat belts. However the previous owner replaced floor pans and there no longer any discernible "dimples" to locate. Has any one got pictures of their seat belt installation points. That may at least give me a starting point.

    Thank you

Here are some pictures I found. Can't say that it is "Ford" correct, but seems to be a standard location. The red carpet is mine and I reused the holes that were in the car when I bought it.

They mount like the picture shows, a few inches behind the rear seat bolt, when the seat is all the way back it's almost touching the bolts, and they're right at the corner of the seat. The rear seat belts mount where there are dimples, they wouldn't have been part of a floor board replacement.

Mine were probably dealer installed and are the ones that were in there when Dad bought it new.

They are mounted on the rear bolts for the front seats.

Brand is "Irving Air Chute" although they seem to have the same style aircraft style latch as most I've seen in that era and are like in the pic of the ones with red interior. My clips that engage in the latch have holes in the center rather than cut out edges like the one in the pic with the green interior.

I bought some replacement belts to install in the rear and they have the cut outs.

I used the rear bolts from the front seats as well. They were kind of sitting there for the taking, so to speak.

Later I did the rear seats (belts). I don't recall the details but would caution you to plan carefully, as I remember drilling the holes, putting the bolt through and then having a struggle to reach it from the underside of the car.

It's important that seat belt bolts are at least 1/2" in diameter AND they go through a good size 'backing plate' (that is usually spot welded to the bottom of the floor pan). - Dave

              both good points.

The bolt for the seat definitely does not make the criteria.

Wasn't hard to add a backing plate.

On our 60 the locations shown for the seatbelt attaching points via the resource library looked a little off for the back seat. The old Chrysler also has buckets and console so those locations were used, front and back.
