    6 Blade Fan 352ci with A/C

    Hi Guys,

On a curious note I checked to see if my Radiator Fan was a 4 or 6 Blade.
I do have Air/Con & yes it's a 6 Blade. Upon checking I noticed that the Blades weren't evenly spaced. I started the Engine & the Fan looked normal. Is it the way that they are supposed to be or do I start stripping. No, it hasn't been in an accident. I had the Water Pump changed just over a year ago by the Mechanic but I didn't see the Fan,& was not brought to my attention that it didn't look right.

Please let me know 'cause it just doesn't look right.

    Thank You.

    6 Blade Fan 352ci with A/C

    Hi Chris!

I tried to find a picture of a Squarebird 6 bladed fan, but did not find one. I think the blades are unevenly spaced on that fan, but I am not sure. We have some owners with 6 bladed fans and one of them should be able to tell you for sure. Don't start stripping the fan off!

The four and five-blade fans were unevenly spaced, as well.

I have the six-blade on my 60...and it is just freaky-looking...the way the blades are spaced.

I'd seen them in photos, though, so I just shrugged and moved on.

Someone out there knows more about the aerodynamics of rotor blades than I do, that is for sure!

John "byersmtrco's" fan blade is an aftermarket "flex" fan blade. Not an OE Ford part...

Yes, Jon is right. It is not an OEM fan, but it is, so I am told, a very effective fan in helping to cool the engine.

                  Hey Guys,
Here is a picture of my six blade fan in Christine. It can off a early '60's Galaxie!

That is what my 6-blade looks like. It is not symmetrical like you'd expect...there is one section with a WIDE space where you would expect a blade to be, and some of the blades are closer together.

I like that it boggles my mind.

                      I have a 6-blade "flex fan" on my '58.

Original radiator. No shroud. And a 460 for a motor.

That fan seems to keep the motor cool enough.

But yes, that old 6-blade fan posted above is kinda freaky-looking!!!

                        Hey Greg.
I looked at the flex fans before I got mine. I was wondering after flexing and flexing was it going to break over time. That fan on Christine is all steel and it works great!!!

I dont think so. It's like a spring-steel they make the blades out of.

If it overheats on me this next summer on a hot day (even with Purple Ice in the coolant mix), then I'll probably try to fit a shroud around it.
My last resort would be to remove it altogether and put an electric fan on it.

I put a mechanical engine temp gauge on the car late this Fall, and it seemed fine on a 55 degree day....185 F. maybe 195-200 at long redlights.

Yup. Mine is a flex fan. (7 Blade )
I'd run an OE 6 blade on there if I was more concerned w/originality.
I just want it (close) I'm sure a 6 blade would do the job.
Would I paint it white? NO!!!!! Nor would I have yellow valve cvr's, but thats me. I have thought about removing the f/blade on there and painting it black, so it doesn't stand out quite so much. I need to try to make the shrd fit a little better. I think my rad/core is about an inch wider than orig( 4 row).

On a side note, I do have a pair of 61-64 "Thunderbird Vlv/covers, hat I'm going to have chromed and put on there.

Well, looks like there's nothing wrong with the blades they just look FREEEKY. All to do with Aero-Dynamics.
