Trunk lock flap

Hi all.
The chrome flap on my trunk lock came apart. Is there anyone who could send me a pic of the configuration of the spring. I'm not sure if a tab broke off on the end of the spring.

Hi Garry, I do not have any pictures of that assembly, but it does sounds like the tab at the end of that spring broke off. That is not uncommon for that to happen. I understand that you can get a new assembly replacement for that. You might give Don a call at the Bird Nest. He should be able to tell you about this. I understand that only the '64 is like that, and that they changed that set up in '65 & '66. Sorry I don't have any pix of that and I do not know if it is covered in the '64 Shop Manual.

Thanks for your response. It's not in the shop manual. The one end of the spring has an offset. The other doesn't.

This is probably because no one has thought to take pictures of that piece... Even Don of the Bird Nest does not have any pictures of that part, from what I understand. You might consider calling the guys at the Bird House in Delaware and see if they do...

Here's a picture from the parts manual if it helps you out. As Ray suggested call Bob's Bird House and talk to them. I'm sure they have one and can tell you how it goes together.

Thanks. All I was hoping for was someone to lift up the lock flap on their car and take a picture with a camera or cell phone so I could see how the ends of the spring was bent

Hopefully, someone on here who owns a Flairbird will do that. Me, and some of the others responding are Squarebird owners. Different lock mechanism..
