I said in the carpet thread that I needed to detail the engine compartment to get the collector plates. Here's the finished (ongoing finished) product. I'm submitting the pics with the stock air cleaner, but running with the chrome one. I have red leads that's go on as soon as I get the plate approval!

Looking good. Nice touch on the valve covers. I still have the original "Ford" covers, but got a set off of a later TBird that says "Thunderbird" on the covers. I know it's not era correct, but then it is my car.
I was putting in the screws to hold my carpet in place. The dynamat under the carpet is giving me the most problem when I drill a hole for the screw. That stuff really likes to grab on to a drill bit. Think when I do the other side, I might put some oil on the bit.

I can, but haven't yet. I replaced every vacuum line on the car and the brakes are now as good as my other cars with 4 wheel disk. Well almost but in order to replace the master cylinder I have to be ready to do the brake conversion, to do that I have to have new wheels and tires.
I have 225X75 wide whites that are going on it so I have the additional chore of finding 14" rims to fit over the disks.
So eventually but not right this second, I'm kind of enjoying the originality of it all, vacuum wipers, drum brakes!Scott

I worry about the drum brakes. They pull to one side when cold and pull to the other when heated, then the fade... On top of that, they simply don't offer enough stoping power.
If you keep your drum front brakes, don't compete with the little cars on public roads. They will win. Power front disk brakes even the playing field, or the highway in this instance.
I have YET to hear one person who has power front disk brakes say they will go back to drums. There is no comparison.
At the same time, I sincerely hope you retrofit your brakes to a dual system. You can keep your rear drum brakes as they only offer ~25% of the total braking power AND your emergency brake will be untouched. - DaveMember, Sons of the American Revolution
