a few pages back someone said that there was instructions on removing the wiper motor. I haven't been able to find those instructions. I did find some info about putting brake fluid in the suction side of the motor that would free it up but there's no way you can get a hose up there. Must of been for another car. Anyway are there some where step by step instruct for this?

There's instructions in the Technical Resource Library on how to remove the wiper motor.

John, thanks for the reply. But when I try to find wiper removal it keeps coming back "error". As I said I did find info under tech library. but it didn't give instruction on removal. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place.

It sounds like you are doing a search. The TRL is accessable from the main page. Here's a link to the wiper removal instructions.

John , you were right I was doing a search. I found the info. Thanks again.
I sold my bird to a guy from Ohio, and he wanted the wipers to work which they didn't for 20 years.Funny how people want things to work. I worked on them long time ago and forgot what a pain it is to get at the motor. I told him I would knock off a few hundred bucks if he would have them fixed after he got the car to his home. But with the new info I'll try it myself or send it in to be rebuilt. check out craigslist south bend, IN and put in 1959 thunderbird to see my car.

I saw your car before. Beautiful. I doubt it will be driven in the rain much anyway.

                  Windsheld wiper motor

My wipers did not work when my thunderbird was delivered either. I was able to fix them by back flushing brake fluid through the vacuum line from the motor. Then gently moving the wipers by hand to work the brake fluid into the wiper motor.
When the brake fluid started coming out the air intake of the vacuum motor I stopped adding brake fluid. I could hear the gurgling sound of the brake fluid in the vacuum chamber of the wiper motor. After the fluid sat in the motor a while. I started the car and ran the wipers with some soapy water on the windshield.

Try this it might save some $$$
