Good Luck with the 6 weeks. Mine has been in body and paint for over 6 months now. I also took some parts in to be chromed and they have been in that shop for 7 months.

I am going to keep it the same color, Moroccan Ivory and Beige Leather interior. Once I get it back I am going to install the interior, upgrade to front disc and put in a Retrosound stereo. I should be good for a while after that.
I see you are going to keep the original color and interior. As John said, that should be stunning when you get it finished. Nyles, I am shocked that it has taken so long to get your paint and chrome work done. It took my paint crew about a month or so, as I recall. The chromer that I have used here, usually had my pieces back in less than two weeks. After I turned them into them, they were sent to their chrome facility in the Dallas area, on a weekend. One of the owners drove all their pieces to be chromed there and came back on Sunday with the pieces that had been sent up there the week before. They do a pretty big volume of business, too. It is just hard to imagine that it would take so long as it has for you for a company to get your work done.
California EPA makes chroming very difficult and expensive. It costs $500+ for a single bumper around here. Also, good painters are hard as heck to find in So Cal. Most will take your car and your money right away and then sit on the car and complain about how they do not make any money working on it. I have fortunately found a great guy and I hope that Nyles has too!
So much for not doing updates. The painter has already cut out the driver lower rear quarter and is fixing the secondary inside panel as well. I hate seeing rust but it is already gone and he used a brake and bent a replacement piece this morning. Sweet.
Ray and Dale:
I did find another chrome shop to do my bumpers and a few other pieces. They were 1-2 week turnaround and did a nice job. I found this chrome shop from one of the members here that ordered a bumper from them and had it shipped. It was a good find, since my other chrome shop closed their doors. Too many EPA restrictions.
The pieces that have been in for chrome for 6 months are all pot metal. They are much more difficult to chrome and a lot of shops do not even want to chrome them. This shop is use by a lot builders like Chip Foose and guys that build grand national cars. Very expensive and slow, but they do nice work. One day I will let you know how the parts came out.
As for the paint, I must have interviewed 10 different shops. It seemed that any of the restoration shops wanted 4-6 months to do the car. Any time I went to a regular body shop, most declined the job and said it really needed to go to a restoration shop. Again, I'll take some pics when it finally gets out of the shop. I am happy with their work so I have high expectations for the final paint.
The painter has finished the panel replacement and is starting on the lead work. I ordered two gallons of Moroccan Ivory UB paint from TCP Global and we should have it by next week. I am still on track for getting it back in mid-April.
I just got back from visiting the painter and he is making great progress on the car. Another week to finish the lead work and we should be ready for sanding and prep. Sweet!
Congratulations on your steady progress. When I had my car in paint I asked the painter if I should fill in the seams left by those tail pieces. He didn't think so but I would if I had it to do over again. I can't see any reason to leave them.
I went up to see the painter today and remove the trunk and hood. He had already finished the lead work. Four pounds of lead sticks and no filler. Sweet!
and looks like an exact match. I am very happy! The only thing not being painted now are the inner fenerwells. How did this project become another full resto?
"How did this project become another full resto?" I ask myself that everyday. LOL It all started with a daily driver and then grew and grew and grew in scope. Oh well, I'm having fun.

Same here - "I'll fix that rusty bolt and paint chip..." then it all goes to pieces!
