      Seems odd. Not quality belts in the day that would have worked to just do one?

        How many horsepower can one belt drive?
        Here's the formulas:
        • 746-Watts = 1 electrical horsepower
        • Power (in Watts) = Current times Voltage


        So, let's say you have an alternator that produces 100-Amps.
        100-Amps times 12-Volts =1,200-Watts.
        1,200 divided by 746 = 1.6-horsepower.
        The pulley is only 2.5" in diameter so more belt surface area (traction) is necessary or the belt will slip and squeal. - Dave
