    Rare Squarebird Parts -The Quest

There are a few accessories that Squarebirds supposedly came optional with, but I have never seen. They are like the fan shroud. Rare parts shrouded in mystery.

Right side spotlight bracket - the spotlight itself will work on both sides, but you need the right bracket. Unity has a part number for it, but I have never seen one, despite searching for one for over 20 years.

Remote trunk release - supposedly this as available in 1959 and 1960. Again, I have never seen one in person.

Wide-view rearview mirror. The 1959 brochure lists several of them. Again I have not found one used or NOS despite years of searching.

Has anyone seen one of these parts ever? What other parts have you heard of for these Squarebirds that you have yet to find.

Regarding rare Squarebird parts, I reccommend contacting a t-bird
parts supplier here in CA. called "T-Birds by Nick" at 800/669-1961
or www.t-birdsbynick.com they are located at 14649 Lanark Street,
Panorama City, CA 91402. Ask for Nick(owner) or Jeff(parts).
I have found them to be very resourceful. Happy hunting.;-)

I made the mistake of spending close to $100 buying a new lock set for mine from Nick back when I was still naive about Squarebird parts sellers. Tho the defroster duct trim he sold me wasn't too bad ($50). Nick also quoted me a price of (if I remember correctly) $1000-$1500 for a complete A/C setup. All the parts would have to reconditioned however.

Nick and Jeff definitely do know their Squarebirds.

Glove box light was an uncommon option for 1960. Why a luxury car would have no glove box light even available for 1958 and 1959 is a mystery.

Day-night mirrors were standard in 1960.

Hey guys. My '59 hardtop has the draw-tite hitch on the back. My other '59 hardtop had a hitch, only it was drilled into the bumper x( . But I also noticed the day-night mirror on the first one.

Another person with a Draw-tite hitch! All these hitches needed a hole drilled in the bumper for a bolt. I have heard that they were uncommon when new, but possitively rare now, since so many people threw them away when the cars were restored.

Door edge guards were not factory or dealer accesories at the time these cars were new. They are pretty much universal fit. Any automotive store will carry them.

                          RE: 58 town &country

There is (was?) a 58 on ebay sporting left & right spotlights. Mine has the original (dealer installed)drivers side spot light. I'd love to have the one on the right to match. A mirr over there would be nice. I'd like to get an orig ins/mirr too. Mine has a 58 style mirr.
I guess $125.00 is the going rate. It's on the list.

Year's ago, I saw a blue 60 Hardtop. No S/roof. A std 352. But it seemed to be loaded. AC, Pwr wdo's, seat etc. It was just an every day driver. But it had an original looking (metal) fan shroud. The slight surface rust, and it's condition matching the rest of the eng compt, I'd say it was original. It had a 5 blade fan and just the std issue radiator.
