I was wondering what the estimated curb weight of a 61 Thunderbird hardtop is? Also, what is the standard gears that came in the rearend of this model? I am looking to possibly change my gearing to get better gas mileage.

In 1962, the rear axle ratios, as shown on the data plate are:

The Hardtops weigh about 4000 lbs.

The State Of Hawaii is charging me for a curb weight of 4900 lbs each year. They bsed there information on the "DMV Book of Records" So I pay my registration fee based on that weight.

Not that it would make a 900 pound difference, the weights listed are base weights and a fully optioned car will weigh more. My 62 with AC and dual power seats etc... weighs just a tad under 4500 but my other 62 with no options weighs just over 4000 with a full tank of gas and 16 inch wheels and tires (possibly lighter than stock ones).
