    Aftermarket Fans

I would be interested in hearing some opinions about the different types of aftermarket flex and non-flex fan replacements that people have had experience with. Also, what other Ford models used a fan shroud that will fit on my 352?
    John

PS: By the way, how do I attach a picture here if it's not already in a HTML format? Can't attach JPEG?

We have an article on the site about fan shrouds that fit the Squarebirds at: http://www.squarebirds.org/shroud.htm

There is a new option for a fan shroud in the past few months. This one is custom made for the Squarebirds.

Uploading of attachments is only for paid members of Squarebirds. If you have webspace, you can just inset the URL of the image in the message. Squarebirds membership has the benefits of enhanced message board privileges, 20 meg of webspace, your own squarebirds e-mail address and a Squarebirds windshield decal.

      Hi John

      Guess who?
That new shroud on ebay fits better than mine. There is not an orig Ford one that will fit w/o mods. The one I have is a copy of a Galaxie shrd.
I'm running the 7 blade flex. You saw it right?
Hayden makes a 6 blade steel that will work fine and do the job. It is more authentic looking.

Haven't seen you since Hero's. How are ya?

I would NOT buy the fan shroud listed on E-Bay, which is the same one sold by Bird Nest -- here's why.

I bought that same shroud from Bird Nest, and returned it. The biggest problem is that it's ABS plastic, not fiberglass, very flimsy, and it will warp in high heat.

Here is what the instructions in the box said - from the company that makes it !!!

Quote " If your car starts to overheat during a parade, pop your hood and turn on the heater. Otherwise damage to the fan shroud could occur, and it would then NOT be covered under the limited warranty." End Quote

The clearance between the fan and shroud was about 1/2", so if the shroud warps, it's likely to hit the fan.

Wow!!! Not good. Wasn't aware of that. My shroud from Dearborn is Fiberglass. It's pretty stout. Prob stronger than the original sheet metal one.

That fan shroud melts with heat? That's not good with these cars.

Glad I have a Ford metal one on my Golde Top.

My bird is missing a shroud completely. That is something I will definitely have to remedy while I am playing under the hood making things look better.

The Squarebirds did not come with a shroud. Questionably some late production 1960 Thundebirds cars with air had dealer installed shrouds.
