I was quite surprised recently, when Matt sent me an email telling me that he and his wife have recently arrived in San Antonio, along with his pretty '59 Tbird! Matt has been bopping around the world in recent years during his Air Force career as a pilot, and it looks like he might be finishing off his enlistment here. We have been talking back and forth in email recently and had the good fortunate of meeting. I was able to acquaint him with our So. TX Tbird Club, which, we hope he will be joining us. Last night, he told me that he had fixed the problem he had with his alternator and would be making the Tuesday evening Drive In at a local Mexican Restaurant with his Tbird. So I made the trip across town to join him and other club members to meet him and cast my eyes on his Gorgeous modified '59 Indian Turquoise like Squarebird. It is about as close to that color as you can get, per his wife, who is an artist and who worked with an auto paint tech to design that color. That is Matt in the white t-shirt and sunglasses, talking with our STTC President, and wife.
His Squarebird has a number of neat and unique modifications to it. He has replaced his OEM AC unit with a Classic Auto Air system. He has added a Dual MC/Dual Power Booster to it, but I forgot to ask him if it also has disc brakes. The engine has been overhauled or replaced with a somewhat larger one. He will have to comment on that, because, though he told me, I have forgotten what all he said he did to it. His headlights are aftermarket ones. He has air suspension on it, with the tank in the trunk. He does not have the interior power controls, has cup holders in the center console, speakers fore and aft, and other modifications to her. He has done much of the work himself while being a Forum member, and when his assignments have allowed him to have his Tbird with him and work on it.
Here are some pix that were taken recently, and last night at the Drive In event... Enjoy!
