    Heater Control

Is it the replacement heater core that is leaking or the elbow? Or both? If someone will PM or email me who they got their new heater core and elbow from, I will check with them. If you also know who is manufacturing these items, I will also check with them. Please put this info in a PM or email. Thanks.

Ray, I sent you an email. I think there was a thread about it when I had the problem.

        Heater Control

I just spoke with Thunderbird Hqs regarding this problem of the replacement heater core leaking at the elbow due to a poor weld. She said that she has only had 2 recently reported to have this problem out of some 400 sold over the last few years. I told her that we have had several reported to have this problem on our Forum. Out of those some were sent back and replaced. Others found the leak and either took action to fix it themselves or had someone else fix the leak.

She said that by all means, if you have problems with this or anything else you buy from them to please let them know so they can make it right. Thunderbird Hqs manufacturers many items for our Tbirds these days, that many other Tbird parts houses order from them and stock. Otherwise, many parts we need would no longer be available. The heater core replacement kit is just one of many.

Sorry, but I'm not impressed by any company who sells leaky products as a new and in perfect shape.

I'm thinking now of our fellow 'birders out in Perth, Australia or Germany, Poland, Malta or anywhere around the world.

This company better step up and start testing their products. Testing is easy to do as it only takes a tank of water and a little compressed air. Fixing their junk is a lot harder and more expensive in remote locations. I don't believe the answer you were given Ray, if we have more defective parts than she admitted to in 400. I have to believe most of the buyers fixed them locally.

I agree with testing before installing. It should have been done before you got it, but still... An ounce of prevention... - Dave
