    Budd Company History

The Budd Body Company built the Thunderbird bodies of the 50's and 60's for Ford in their Detroit plant and shipped them to Wixom for the production line many times a day to keep it going. Here is a history of their company right up to now as they have been dismantled by Martinrea. Here is the link to the web page I created. I hope you enjoy reading their long history.

      Budd Body Company History

Yesterday, I made contact with an ex-Budd employee who happens to have email records on dozens and dozens of ex-Budd employees. She sent out the email that I sent to her to all of them! As a result, yesterday, I received an email from a Budd Body Co. lineman who worked there in the '70's. He was able to give me some additional history on how things were done when he was there. You will find his comments at the bottom of this page. I will add more as I get them. I am looking for specific information on how they built and processed the shells and panels for our Tbirds and the two SS Tbirds..

        Budd Body Company History

Yesterday, I had another contact with a former employee of Budd Body Co. His name is Doug Evans and he gave me permission to use his name. He has that Bulletbird for sale that I listed for him. He provided me with some very good information on how far ahead in Tbird body building they were in regards to the Wixom plant. Just a couple of shifts! You can read about it here.

          Hi Ray,
Unless I'm not reading right the Budd History are all identical.

Ray added new info at the end of the last article, Chris. At first glance, I thought they were the same, too.

              Budd Company History

Thanks to an email I just received from one of our users I was informed that the link to the Budd Body Company History was no longer working. I had forgotten that I had put that link on Fortune City at the time. Fortune City used to have free web page hosting, and eliminated that recently. I have been able to move that link to our Forum and you can now view it here.

Thanks, Ron for alerting me about this. This is all interesting reading about the Budd Company.
