That '60 Golde Top photo was from a old Golde brochure. The company no longer exists. I doubt anyone has rights to that picture.

That's interesting. I'm an intellectual property lawyer, so I'm familiar with the fair use concept that you guys seem to be facing. In many cases, the liability arises from use of a company's logo where nominative use of the company's name in a descriptive sense would have otherwise been acceptable. Trademark owners get nervous when someone's use of their mark might lead an unsuspecting consumer to think there's some association or affiliation with the trademark owner. Even if there's a limited likelihood of confusion, the separate issue of trademark dilution may raise a concern for famous marks. Just let me know if you want me to take a quick look at your concern.
Thanks again for your help with the gauge lighting....Comment

Obsolete Ford Parts has been in business for decades. Why pursue legal action now? I like a catalog that lists the parts by the Ford Parts number. That's how I know the parts from the Parts books, and it reassures me that I am getting the right part.
If Ford is worried about trademark dilution by an antique Ford parts dealer using "Ford" in their name, they shouldn't. Ford has been in business for over 100 years - the trademark is secure. If it would make Ford lawyers feel better, they should just grant the company the right to use the Ford name in their business. It will make everyone happy and won't alienate people who help promote and preserve Fords from the Ford brand.
I understand Ford going after people who sell merchandise with their brand on it without license, but this not that.
Oh - the Ford execs, with great compassion and generosity, gave Obsolete Ford a way out of the lawsuit.
ALL they had to do was pay Ford exhorbitant amounts of money for an annual license to use "Ford" in their name...
According to the owners, the amouint requested was so extreme as to make the business, if not unprofitable, then at least marginally so. It's all about the $$$$...and extortion.CaseyComment

Isn't that the truth. I always thought that the purpose of
corporate governance was just that " to govern" and allow
people like us, who are truly ambassadors for Ford to keep their model years going. After alll they made the cars.
