    flex fan recommendation

Here is something that Kenn (thanks, Kenn!) sent me regarding boiling point temperatures that might interest those of you who are combatting overheating problems in your Bird. Clicking on the attachment should give you the option to Open or Save it.

      flex fan recommendation

My 17 inch flex fan is only 5/8 inch away from the radiator which makes it really hard to get to the fan bolts. I have a metal shroud that I am going to install and I am wondering if I can move the fan further away from the radiator? The spacer I have is 2 inch and I thought maybe I could go to a 1 inch. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks

Take a look at this post and will guide you to proper spacing/location of a fan using a shroud: http://www.squarebirds.org/vbulletin...ad.php?t=22919

Keep in mind that if you end up using more than one spacer, the pilot hole size on the water pump is larger than the pilot hole for the fan. I got bit on this one and is why I remember the size difference.

Been looking at flex-a-lite spacers. May have to go to two spacers (1 inch and 1/2 inch). I haven't measured the pilot holes yet as the fan hasn't been removed. I'm getting ready to install rebuilt 430. Thanks again, Nyles.
