The Fordomatic had an aluminum bell housing if I'm not mistaken.

Hi Ken, when you say later any idea how much later. Do you think it is later then a 1960? Thanks Tommy"

Unless it's been painted it looks too shiny for cast iron.

Thermal Emission (Air Pump) began in 1966.

Might I ask a favor? Regarding the surge tank, if and when you get around to taking it off, can you check for a I.D. Tab (soldered to tank) and post the findings here? I have never seen one in that configuration...

Tommy sent me his VIN # and Data Plate info. Here is that info.

She left the factory as a '59 2dr Hardtop, with a 352CI engine in her, the 45,885th (the 1 does not count) Tbird out of 67,456 to be made that year. The 63A tell you it left as a 2Dr Hardtop, Body Color R = Brandywine Red, Trim Color 4X = Black & Whiter Vinyl interior, Date 22E = scheduled for production on May 22, '59, Tran Code 4 = COM, and Axle Code 1 = 3.10. She is already registered in John Rotella's Tbird Registry as Registry #15036, last reported as being in Georgia in 2004. But Tommy said the car was driven from Georgia to upper New York by the person he bought it from. I can update that info for Tommy.

Good point. It must've been rebuilt recently for it to be so free of dirt and grime.

Hi John, if it means anything the tranny fluid is a nice red and no smell. If it is cast is it a cruiso or fordo. Thanks Tommy"

I have been looking at paint samples for Squarebirds trying to determine which color red Tommy's '59 was painted in. I have come to the conclusion that it is not Brandywine Red or Monte Carlo Red because they look to dark. I have been comparing a pic of his Tbird against paint samples from this website, which lists ALL 1955-2005 Tbird colors. Looking at the 1962-1965 Tbirds, I think that is Rangoon Red! It could be 1955 Torch Red, but that looks a bit to dark to me. It could be 1956 Fiesta Red also. But I think it is Bulletbird-Flairbird Rangoon Red. The neat thing about this website is if you click on the Manuf Code next to the color name, it will bring up all the paint manufacturers color codes for that particular color. I have put this link in the TRL under the Paint caption! Here is the link.
