'60 Chromed Headlight Covers for Sale/Trade

If no one can tell me how to make a set of '60's headlight covers work on my '59, mine are for sale or trade. If anyone has an extra set of '59 headlight covers, stamped on the inside as BAP-16397-A 11509 LH and (I think, but am not sure, because I cant get the right side cover off) BAP-16396-A 11508 RH chromed or suitable for chroming, please PM me. There is some small pitting in this chrome.

If anyone has the right side cover off their '59, can you please tell me if I am right about the stock number? Thanks!

    Ray:

If you plan on selling them let me know the price, I was thinking of having mine chromed and could use them.

Do you have any pics of them.

    Thanks

'60 Chromed Headlight Covers for Sale/Trade

      Hi George,

I just sent you an email about these two covers. I did find out that I was right about the Ford part numbers for that right side cover. I finally got that screw out, but I stripped the head in doing so. Now I need to find a new screw. It has to be from a '58 or a '59. I am told the ones from the '60 will not work.

If anyone has one they dont mind parting with, please let me know. I am finding out they are as hard as hens teeth to come by. The guys at Bird Nest tell me they have searched for years for a company who made/makes them, to no avail. I have already talked to most of the major parts outlets to no avail. I dont care if I have to get the cover along with it, especially if the cover is all messed up. Just so the screw is in very good condition for chroming.

I know where there is one cover that I can shoot for, but really just need one good screw, not the cover. Any help would be appreciated.

        Ray,
Before you drive yourself crazy looking for a screw, try a local ACE hardware store if one is nearby.
The one in my town has a HUGE assortment of unique fasteners (for vehicles and otherwise) CHEAP! I replaced literally every screw, bolt, etc. on my Olds when I had it apart. They had most of what I needed in stainless steel no less.
        It's worth a try.
The ACE near me is the old fashioned kind with open bins for the hardware so you can physically compare what you have and what you need. I hate the newer big-box hardware (home improvement) centers because they always try to sell you packages of 3 or 4 fasteners in little plastic sleeves - ugh. You have to tear into several to find the right one. You know their slogan:
"You can do it. We can help"......ummm right.

          Hi Casey!

Thank you for that suggestion! I was not even sure we had an ACE Hardware stores left in San Antonio. I figured the big guys ran them out of business. Not so! We have three of them here. One of them is about half way across the city. One downtown, and one on the far east side. I will go to one of them and see what they have. I will be surprised if I find one, because it is such a specialized screw. IF I do, I will let ya'll know and IF I can get an ACE part number for it, I will tell you that also. I suspect that if they have it, ACE is gonna see a run on it across this country! Thank you much for that help!
