    1966 Chrome Window Trim Removal

I've a 66 bird, getting it ready for new paint - any tricks to removing the front chrome window trim around the windshield? Also - removal of the chrome rain rails along the doors/roofline.

    Thanks!

Do you have the assembly manual? It's not always correct, but it is still a big help. Going by memory, first take off the side trim. It forms a gutter for the roof and windshield. The top and rear sections pry off (very tight!), the front is screwed on. Then the sides of the windshield. The top is snapped on with 7 clips. The top clips are held to the body by the rubber seal. The bottom, first remove the cowl, then it has clips that are screwed into the body.

      thanks

I'll give it a go this weekend, just hoping not to damage any of it, I'm sure it's not easy to find and mine is near perfect

Mine is too, was lightly scratched. A few hours on the buffing wheel and now they shine like mirrors.
