    Mick's Vin #

I decided to get this out of Mick's thread and post it by itself. There was a comment about the VIN # possibly being to low, but that does not seem to be the case. His Tbird was built in the first month of production, September, 1959 and falls within the number of '60 Squarebirds produced in September that year.

By the end of September, 1959, there had been 3,575 '60 Squarebirds built. On the 25th of September, that day there were 224 scheduled for production, but they were slightly ahead of schedule that day and actually produced 239 '60 Squarebirds. This from the 1960 Squarebirds Production Records provided to us by Phil Skinner of Kelly Blue Book fame. I have the breakdown of the entire 1960 Squarebird Production results for 1959-1960 and have published it in the past. Here is the September breakdown..

1960 Squarebird Wixom Daily Production Numbers

    1959 T-bird build out Completed on August 21, 1959.

Note that Wixom often did not run their production line on Saturdays.
They rarely ran it on Sunday, but at times, they did. The work week started on Monday's.

    September totals - T-Bird prod. 3,575 Build Out - Export - 68

As you can see here, the VIN # of Mick's Tbird falls within the 3,575 built in September, 1959.. It does not necessarily mean that it was actually built on the 25th, but it was on the schedule to be built that day. During the month of September, 1959, they were 10-30 cars or so ahead of the daily production schedule for many of those days.

The complete listing of daily production of the 1960 Squarebird can be found in the Technical Resource Library (TRL) under Historical Events & Information at the bottom of the TRL. Just click on the link in my signature and scroll down to it to view the entire listing.

BTW, a check of the www.tbirdregistry.com website shows that your Tbird is not registered with the Tbird Registry. Since you said I could do it for you, I will Mick. Remind me to give you the Registry Number once John Rotella sends it to me.

    Ray,

The vin# didn't strike me as unusual. But your response did.

Wow, great info, didn't know you had published this in the TRL. Thanks to you and Phil for this info.

This would also be a great contribution to the VTCI Scoop if you haven't considered it yet. I'd urge you to contact Terri or the appropriate person to include in a future Scoop Issue, they're always looking for contributors.

Looks like we had a little slow down on 9-18-59.
