One of my '66 front bumper guards (17985-A-C6SZ) was bent and cracked so I've been searching the web for a new one. The T-bird Connection sales rep insists the guards are supplied as a left and a right. As far as I can tell the guards are symmetrical, identical, and not marked vis-a-vis orientation. How can one tell which is left and which is right?

check the part numbers. I think odd number is left and even number is right on nearly all R & L hand all parts.Last edited by Joe Johnston; April 11, 2018, 02:51 PM. -
According to the Ford parts book they are both the same. They do show an early (before 9/16/65 -A revision) and late (-B revision) but they are still the same part number R & L; C6SZ-17996.

Bumper Guards
You should be able to get the correct bumper guard from Clint66, in Minnesota. Clint has several, 3-4 '66 Flairbirds that he is parting out, listed in the For Sale / Parts Wanted Forum. Here is the link. Give him a call. He probably has a lot of parts for the Flairbird that he can pull from his parts cars.
