    Valve Cover Color

Does anyone have the correct paint code for the GOLD BRONZE for the valve covers on 65's?

How annoying not spelling the headline correct, as I canīt edit it.... Should be Valve Cover Color.....

Castillian Gold is the accepted color to use on the air cleaner and valve covers. The Ford color code is M1459.

Castillian Gold is for 1963-1964 390s.

Gold Bronze Metallic was used in 1965: Ford # M-842; Numbers from 1965-era paint charts: Ditzler # 21903, DuPont Dulux # 58639. Lucky for you it was also used on '64-'65 Mustang 289s, so you can source it from an early Mustang parts vendor.
It was also used on various engines from 1958 through 1965 including '58 Mercury Marauder 430s, '63 Mercury 390-2v, '60-'63 HiPo 352/390/406s, and '64-'65 289s (Falcon, Mustang, Fairlane, Galaxie).

        Alan,

Thanks for clearing that up. I was going by John Draxler's info on his website. He lists Castillian Gold for the 1965 air cleaner and Gold Bronze for the valve covers. Is that correct?

              Valve Cover Color

According to Alan's research, John Draxler has it incorrect. Alan said this in his color research articles for the 1965 390 Flairbirds:

Bronze Gold: Air Cleaner, Valve Covers
              1965 Ford/T-bird 390-300 hp 4v
              Ditzler Enamel/Lacquer #: DQE-21903 / DAL-21903

There is a detailed Technical article on engine bay paint colors by Alan in the TRL: You will find it here.

Speaking of John Draxler, has anyone ever heard anything out of him in recent months? A year or to ago, I tried many times to contact him by phone and email to no avail... He never replied, which is often what I hear from others who try to contact him....
