Hi Cathie! Great to see you and thank you for the post. I hope that you are doing well these days.

It would be great if anyone living in the East Troy, WI area could get to this place, record the VIN #"s and data plate info off those Tbirds and register them on the Tbird Registry as being slated to be crushed. I saw a couple of Squarebirds in that one picture.

That red one looks straight. Also the black Lincoln 3 cars way on the diagonal looks like a nice project.

I agree with Cathie that is just wrong as someone can certainly save some.

I was in this boneyard shortly after this article ran. It was easily five times larger than any other junkyard I've ever been in.

As I entered, I asked the lady in charge if she'd sell whole cars and she quickly shot back, 'Which one?'

After I got in I understood her curious attitude. Twenty acres of old cars and less than a handful were worth or able to be restored. It appeared the gates closed in 1984 and with no customers to tamp down the foliage, they were quickly enveloped in undergrowth. Hoods and trunks were rusted through due to leaves piling up on them. Trees grew right through some.

It must've been abandoned when the owner got old/ill and after thirty years sitting idle, his daughter got the responsibility of liquidating the rusting brownfield/SuperFund site.

That red Bird was gone by the time I got there but that tan one looks familiar. That foto shows nearly all the good cars on the entire property, and since my kid is mental for Imperials, we spent some time in that area.

If I'd have known back then that SquareBird VIN's were a thing, I'd have gotten them.

Thanks, Steve, for the additional information. Any time that any of you visit a junkyard and see any Tbird, any year, there, if you have time to do so, PLEASE, go to every one you see. See if you can open to door to find the Data Plate. Take several pictures of it, up close, so you can get a good readable VIN # and Data Plate information from it. Then when you can, send me those pix, along with the information of the location of those Tbirds. I can then post them for you on the Thunderbird Registry of John Rotella, to record that those Tbirds are now located in a junkyard, in whatever State that is, and are facing possible crushing. Or are available to pull parts off of. In this way, we can help John continue his recording of every Tbird we come across as to it's status, still on the road, under repair or restoration, or a parts car, on in a junkyard. John has now registered 64,445 Tbirds status in the registry, from 1955-2005. Lets help him get that number higher!

BTW, here is the new link below for the Registry. You can still get to it by going to tbirdregistry.com, and it will direct you to the new link for it below.
