HALLALLUUUYAA!!!! Those pesky fuse holders have a tendancy of hideing. It might be a good idea to tie a bell on it's tail for when it hides again. ha ha. Anyway, good job. And think of what you have learned about electrical problems and you car, not to mention keeping band-aid salesmen employed.

You would have to load it on to a site like Photobucket and then post it.
Send it to me as an E-Mail attachment to bcomo@satx.rr.com and I'll load it for you on this post.
Good work !!!!Bart

Greg,
I highly recommend the 1960 Thunderbird Electrical Assembly Manual by Jim Osborne. In 2 of the diagrams, a 14A fuse is shown between the Ignition switch 'BAT' terminal and the stop light switch, the circuit continues to the turn signal switch and onto the brake lights. Although the circuit connects at the turn signal switch, --junction point only-- it doesn't go thru the switch, so a faulty switch shouldn't affect the stop lights. The assembly manual is full of diagrams used in the assembly of the car that were reprinted by Osborn. There is another wiring diagram used by many that doesn't show this fuse and many other details that are covered by the Osborn manual, again, this manual is a must have if you intend to trouble shoot a squarebird.
I see this manual regularly on ebay from $16 to $28, a seller from Highstown NJ list for $16.Ken

I have found a 1960 wiring diagram for the brake lights and will scan it in tomorrow afternoon and post it. It is noticeably different from 58 and 59
It can be found at http://users.wpi.edu/~goulet/TBird/1...Headlights.pdf
and does explain what everyone has been pointing out. It includes the diagram of the headlight switch and that might make it worth downloading or printing for any of you 60 guys.

Thank you for finding that. I have that wiring diagram but it does not seam to be accurate on at least some of the 60 birds (mine included). In my situation, as well as Wildcats it sounds, the green wire coming off the headlight switch does not go directly to the brake light switch, it goes over to the ignition switch, then from there to the brake light switch WITH AN INLINE FUSE A SHORT DISTANCE FROM THE IGNITION SWTCH. None of the diagrams I have seen shows this. This IS a factory instalation as my car is untouched original in all aspects. I sent pics of the fuse to Bcomo and hopefully it will be posted on this form for all to see. THANKS FOR THE HELP!! are there directions on this site on how to upload pics to it? I am not a computer wiz kid and will need help but I have many pics of factory markings on my car that I think would be very helpful for all who are restoring. You guys have helped me and I would like to be able to return the favor, just need step by step directions on the old computer. Carbs, timing and engine rebuids I can do, computers..........not so!

Greg: do your brake lights only work when the Key is On?? I ask this since you said the wire goes from the headlight switch to the ignition switch. My brakes (58) come on indenpendent of the key.

in the diagram I have a link to in this thread, there is a 5 amp fuse before the brake lights. Is this one different than that or the same one??

As to what the white fuse holder is for........... I have no idea!!!! As to the 5 amp fuse I have not seen one in any of the diagrams posted, I have seen a 7.5 amp fuse that goes to the flashers, do not know if that is what you are refering to ??? Both brake lights work perfectly now! without the key on. I had to replace the dash pad, as you can see in the photos (the only thing replaced in the interior and on the car. The new one IS one from Ford dated in a 1961 Ford box and black as is what I needed. I will post some info on how to install one of these in a 60 bird, should be helpful.Comment
